How to wash wool

To ensure their longevity and preserve their excellent quality, you should follow these instructions for the care of your wool treasures

Wool is a resistant and elastic fiber, easy to maintain over time: it does not need to be washed after each use. Its fibers have a natural protective coating, which makes it resistant to dirt and dust. Just hang it and let it take air.

Wool care for long-lasting shine

Preparing wool for washing

Before washing wool it is preferable to inspect the garment or accessory to assess the presence of any stains that require pre-wash treatment. Use a gentle, wool-safe stain remover to quickly start treating stains before washing.

Washing

Hand washing is the most recommended method for washing your woolen items, as it offers the best care for delicate fibers.

The first step is to fill a basin with warm water and add a small amount of detergent, making sure it is specifically formulated for woolen items.

If you prefer washing in the washing machine, remember that wool does not require particular care, but we still recommend setting a low temperature program (30°).

To remove excess water from your wool garments, we do not recommend rubbing, as it can cause friction and felting. Pilling is a natural characteristic of the fiber and can be easily removed with a special comb or fabric razor.

Drying

To dry wool, the advice is to hang the scarf on the drying rack, for natural drying in the open air. Be careful though: avoid stretching, but proceed with delicate movements to shape the garment to its original dimensions.

To avoid fading or damage to the fibers, we recommend keeping the scarf away from direct sunlight or heat sources.

Conservation

Store your wool treasures in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture to prevent mold or moth damage. Fold them neatly and store them in a breathable fabric bag or drawer to keep their shape and protect them from dust.

Expert tip: To maintain the softness and strength of the wool scarf, consider adding a few drops of balm to the final rinse water. This helps restore moisture and keep the fibers elastic and luxurious.
